A light-emitting diode (LED) is a semiconductor device that emits incoherent narrow-spectrum light. In 1950s Rubin Braunstein of the Radio Corporation of America demonstrated infrared emission from gallium arsenide (GaAs) for the first time. Further development in the last years of 20th century made it possible to produce LEDs on a large scale that were powerful enough to compete with incandescent lamps. Using LEDs to illuminate rooms is becoming more popular also in Poland. At the moment, because of the clear advantages of LED lighting in comparison with traditional lamps, they are being used more and more often - especially in contemporary projects. For furniture lighting, LEDs provide a perfect solution for many reasons - small size, aesthetic look and a host of benefits, which give a unique effect.
